‘The vibes are great!’: 2026 Silent Disco raises $19K for housing in Huntsville
Huntsville, Ontario – The music may have been in our headphones, but the fun was loud and clear.
Our 2026 Silent Disco Dance Party at Canvas Brewing Co. on May 29 brought more than 100 people onto the dance floor for a night of sweet moves, off-key singing, happy laughter – and raising vital funds for our affordable housing initiatives.
“What a great way to get out and have fun – the best part is moving around the room and seeing all the different colours on everyone’s headphones while everyone is still having fun together,” said Bernadette Lovegrove, our board chair, who took a moment off the dance floor for a chat. “And how many opportunities do we get to go out dancing these days? The vibes are great!”
Jordan Dobson and Bailey Williams took the opportunity for a night out to bust a move together too. Dobson said the couple was ready for their first night out after welcoming their first child several month ago – and they chose our Silent Disco.
“I thought it would be a fun date night – and we love it,” smiled Dobson. “Being able to use the headphones to toggle between music genres while also being able to take them off and have a conversation? And everyone is having a great time.”
“I have never led a conga line – but I did it tonight!” laughed Williams. “And I am pleasantly surprised. I didn’t know what to expect – how much dancing would I be doing if there was no music filling the room with sound? – but, no, this is even better!”
She gave a shout out to the live DJ for playing her favourite song.
Never experienced a silent disco? It is a dance party where everyone gets a pair of wireless headphones so they can tune into the live DJ or pick from two other channels then dance the night away with everyone else. The headphones glow with different colours based on the channel people choose, so you can come together with others who share your taste in music.
People often start to sing spontaneously, too. At different times, the dance hall filled with voices belting out Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond and Don’t Stop Believin’ by Journey – to name a few – accompanied by lots of laughs.
“Together, we raised more than $19,000 to support Community Living Huntsville’s affordable housing initiatives for people with developmental disabilities and the families who access our services in North Muskoka,” said Jennifer Jerrett, our Community Engagement Specialist. “Thank you to everyone who showed up, danced it out, and made a difference.”
