Your Role

  • Grow an understanding of the people you support, provide ideas and recommendations to support the development of their Person-Directed Plans, and help them implement their plans
  • Assist people with personal care and activities of daily living, as necessary, in a way that respects their choices, abilities, and dignity, and facilitates their daily, weekly, and monthly rhythms and routines
  • Support people to build independence and relationships both at home and in their community, and connect with community resources
  • Encourage and support people’s community participation based on their goals, support them to overcome barriers in the community, and advocate alongside them to promote a more inclusive community
  • Support the health, safety, and medical needs of the people you support

Your Qualifications

  • Knowledge about and commitment to disability rights, the principles of inclusion, and the Community Living Movement
  • 1-year post-secondary education in the Human Services field (DSW preferred)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Physical ability to support people, some with limited mobility, in all aspects of daily living and in different settings
  • Tolerance of, and ability to handle, a heavy workload and competing demands
  • Ability to use and learn new technology (computers, software programs, phones, printer/scanners, alarm/security systems, etc.)
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification, or willingness to obtain
  • Valid driver’s license, acceptable driver’s abstract and reliable transportation to be used in course of employment
  • Ability to obtain a clear Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Free of communicable diseases
  • Ability, availability, and commitment to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, overnights, and weekends

 

Hours of Work

  • Part Time hours are based on regularly being scheduled not less than twenty-four (24) hours per week and up to thirty-three (33) hours per week, averaged over a two-week pay period.
  • This position will regularly be scheduled shifts that include shifts that include days, evenings and weekends
  • Depending on the location(s) and support requirements, the worker is able to work additional hours when necessary, including emergencies, illness or vacation time.

 

Rate of Pay:

$25.64 – $26.36

This rate includes the $3 per hour Wage Enhancement.
