NORTH MUSKOKA – Join in a new all-abilities golf tournament that is shaping up to be a hole in one.

“Golf Fore Inclusion, our first all-abilities golf tournament, is a safe and welcoming event for anyone who wants to give it a shot, even if they feel their golf game may not be up to par,” smiles Jennifer Jerrett, Community Engagement Specialist for Community Living Huntsville. “This tournament is open to everyone and is no-pressure. It’s about celebrating a fun, inclusive golf community and raising funds for a worthy cause.”

The not-for-profit organization hosts the nine-hole tournament at Deerhurst Lakeside Golf Course on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, starting at 9:00 AM. Registration is $75 per golfer, which includes a round of golf, a cart, a barbecue lunch, and a chance at prizes. Registration deadline is September 7.

Jerrett gave special thanks to the organization’s 2022 Event Partners, including Enbridge Fueling Futures, Shoppers Drug Mart Huntsville, and Near North Business Machines, for making events like this possible. “We couldn’t do it without them,” says Jerrett.

And she cheered early tournament registrants, like Jason Dodds, who has enjoyed golfing for several years with a weekly community golf group at Deerhurst Resort and is supported by Community Living Huntsville. “It’s a lot of fun!” says Dodds. And he says that is why he has registered for the tournament – for the fun.

The half-day on the course also aims to raise awareness and funds for Community Living Huntsville’s Transitional Housing Initiative for people the organization supports, who have developmental disabilities and are homeless or at risk of homelessness. And that, as much as community connection, has motivated registrants, too.

“Homelessness is a reality in Muskoka. I truly believe the money raised during this event will go to an excellent cause,” says Jeff McWilliam, another early registrant. “The great folks at Community Living Huntsville are an integral part of finding creative solutions to challenges our community faces daily. Opening doors in an inclusive community takes dedication, compassion, effort, and fundraising dollars, which I am proud to be a part of. Looking forward to a great day!”
