Supported Employment Services Program (For people who receive support)

We believe that everyone, if given the right opportunities and connections can obtain and maintain a job.

The benefits of working include:

  • Self– esteem increases when people work
  • Increases positive community presence
  • Builds meaningful relationships
  • Fosters independence
  • Improves financial situation

We support people with Exploring, Obtaining and Maintaining Meaningful Employment Opportunities through:

JOB EXPLORATION:  We support people to find a job that meets their skills, abilities, experiences and interest.

Using community as a first resource, we work collaboratively with service  agencies to support people in creating resumes, cover letters, applying for jobs and supporting people   throughout the entire interview process

SKILL DEVELOPMENT: We provide the opportunity for people to develop their employment -related skills through connecting people with workshops within the community, volunteer  placements that provide the opportunity to build skills and develop their resume, employment related certificates such as: First Aid, WHIMS, Smart Serve and more. This also includes supporting people to build their careers through connecting with mentorship and education.

JOB RETENTION: We support people in retaining their positions through connecting people with the right job placement and ensuring that ongoing communication occurs between the person supported and their employer. We support the person to successfully navigate any issues that arise on their job, even after our on the job coaching has been faded.

ON THE JOB COACHING: A Job coach is a person who provides on the job training and assistance to people who receive employment supports once gaining employment. The length of a time a job coach provides supports depends on how comfortable the person and the employer feels on the job and how independently they are able to work.

WORKING WITH EMPLOYERS: At CLH, we pride ourselves on the successful relationships  we have developed with employers in our community.  It is important that employers feel comfortable working collaboratively with the person and CLH to resolve any issues that may arise. We are here to help.

JOB CARVING and JOB DEVELOPMENT: We support people in exploring employment fields of their choosing through collaborating with businesses to develop a specific, unique and tailored job suited just for them and tapping into the hidden job market.
